JUNE

Dear philoptochos Members,

It’s June already!  We are gearing up for the Denver Greek Festival and looking forward to seeing all our friends and family there.  The women of our Philoptochos are integral to the success of the festival and I want to thank each and every one of you for the tireless devotion you provide each year to assure that Greek hospitality is tangible in our community.   If anyone has time to volunteer a shift in the Pastry Shop, Taste of Greece, Café, Wine & Cheese Bar, or attending to the Cookbook Table, please let me know at 720.524.4837.  We welcome you and need you!

And for those that are unable to attend the festival in person this year, may we suggest the next best thing - a copy of our Festival of Greek Flavors cookbook which will allow you to savor all the great tastes of our culture at home. Copies can be ordered in the store of our website, denverphiloptochos.com. We now ship out of state!

Thanks for your support of THE BLOOMS & BRIMS FASHION SHOW AND LUNCHEON

The Signature Event Committee wants to thank all of you who attended our Blooms and Brims Fashion Show and Luncheon last month. I will let the photographs speak to the success of the day.  It was SO much fun and quite wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of our guests and models. Thanks to everyone that worked so hard to bring it to life, and thanks to all who supported us by coming to enjoy. Your attendance supports the many initiatives of our Philoptochos chapter and we are very grateful for the generous donations you have made. Thank you!

The Signature Event 2025 organizing committee sincerely thanks you for attending The Blooms & Brim Fashion Show and Luncheon! We loved the time spent together and look forward to seeing you at our new endeavor next year. Thank you!

2025 GREEK FESTIVAL WINE & CHEESE BAR

The wines have been selected with care and we are anticipating a fun and active booth at the Denver Greek Festival again this year. Our booth is always a special destination for the many attendees who visit us year after year, and we encourage you to bring your friends and families by to say hello and sample a high quality wine and meze in the upstairs lobby of the Community Center. We have limited air conditioned seating in the lobby and cabaret tables on the patio to offer you a respite from the crowds and heat of the main festival thoroughfare. See you there!

2025 greek festival cooking demonstrations

We have a loyal following of festival goers that plan their visits to the festival around our cooking demonstration schedule. Each year our members offer recipes from our Festival of Greek Flavors cookbook to the many Greek food lovers at the festival who hope to learn a secret to fine Greek cooking. They are not disappointed!

We will be offering cooking demonstrations on Saturday, June 7th at 1:00 and 5:00 PM in the upper tented patio immediately east of the lobby. We wlll host a third demonstration on Sunday at 1:00 PM, as well. Please note that we have copies of our cookbook Festival of Greek Flavors for sale, and can ship to any destination, should you wish to gift a copy to friends and family. Please stop by the table inside the lobby/patio doors to secure your order.

gold dome holiday market 2025

We are planning a wonderful holiday market with juried craft vendors, a delicious snack bar and an intriguing “Yiayia’s Cupboard” filled with heirlooms and treasures from years gone by. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this newest endeavor of our Philoptochos chapter. If you know of a fine crafter that would like to participate in the market, please direct them to the following information:

I hope the start of the summer holiday affords you a little time to yourself to tend to your garden, walk a favorite path, or to just put your feet up with a good book or glass of wine. I wish you good times with your friends and families and I’ll drop you another quick line next month. Until then, enjoy the blessing of living in Colorado!

Love, Christine
