Dear philoptochos Members,
Driving down the gorgeous streets of Denver this week, I have noticed how in some instances the trees on one side of the road are blown clean off the trees while the other side still hosts a beautiful canopy of color. It is the same in life with those who have much and those who are windblown, and it is the mission of our Philoptochos to assure that there is care and support for those more affected in difficult times. This week, our chapter issues a plea to our parish to provide monetary or canned food donations to assist families in need. Our chapter will match up to $2000 in donations to bolster the shelves of our local food banks, and we will collect canned food donations to distribute, as well. Please stop by the Philoptochos table on Sundays until November 23rd, or check denverphiloptochos.com, for the types of food items requested by the support agencies in the city. We can make a real impact together and alleviate the angst that comes with resources lost.

To the same aim, we will soon begin soliciting fleece tops and bottoms for nursing home residents. The facilities we support are currently identifying those individuals in greatest need and will soon be providing sizes. Check at the Philoptochos table in the coming weeks for specific individual’s information.
veteran’s day / thanksgiving luncheon
Please join Philoptochos for our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon honoring our parish veterans on Thursday, November 13th at 12:30 PM. A traditional thanksgiving meal will be served. Please call Faith Ioannides with your reservation at (303) 909-1685 or email Christine Smith @ cksmith@4edisp.net by 11/11. The cost is $25 per person.

We have a limited number of 8x8 pans of baklava available to ease your holiday baking. Pans are $40 and have been made with the utmost care and choicest ingredients. You wo’t be disappointed! Please come to the Philoptochos table to purchase yours any given Sunday.
Lunch in the park meal preparation for homeless families
We will be preparing a delicious and nutritious meal for 150 individuals the morning of November 24th at 9:00 AM in the kitchen of the Community Center. Thanks to the efficient planning of Janice Thomas, we’ll be done before noon. If you are able to participate in the preparation of this meal, please join us! You will leave feeling very pleased to have done something so wonderful for those in need.
holiday bake sale pre-sale
Additional holiday bake goods are available for presale at denverphiloptochos.com and at the Philoptochos table during coffee hours. All items will be baked immediately preceeding the distribution dates of December 20th & 21st. Get your order in early to assure adequate production of your preferred selections. All items will be beautifully wrapped and will make great gifts for family and friends.
greek school christmas carol program
The students of our Greek School invite us to attend their Christmas Carol Concert of Greek holiday music on Wednesday, December 17th, at 5:00 PM. It is free of charge and promises to be a wonderful program of traditional Greek music. Please join the fun in the Annunciation Room.
gold dome holiday market
We hosted the highly successful inaugural Gold Dome Holiday Market event in late October providing great selection of holiday gifts and browsing fun for all who attended. The vendors were of high quality, the café served a delicious lunch, and the vintage Agora offered some true gems to collectors and bargain lovers. senior outing survey
We will be conducting an informal survey of our senior members for preferences regarding our December Holiday Outing. Please take a moment to give us your feedback when approached so we can best meet your wishes. The survey will be multiple choice and will only take a few minutes to complete.
