Dear philoptochos Members,
As Greeks, we have learned something about the nature of love from our philosophers: Plato’s ladder of eros, the desire for beauty or wisdom; Aristotle’s virtuous friendship, where friends wish the best for each other; Sophocles’ view of love as a balm that eliminates pain; but the greatest love, I think, is unconditional love, the love we’ve learned through the teachings of Christ, to accept the full scope of human nature with a sense of compassion, and a sincere desire to understand what is harbored in each individual’s heart. It is with this spirit that February calls to us. Let us draw strength from that fact that love overcomes. It heals. It is the greatest power on earth. Let’s honor it in every instance presented to us, especially the hardest ones. Let’s open our hearts and our eyes to the good in all of us, and celebrate our discoveries with joy.
GO RED SUNDAY
Join us on February 15th as we bring awareness to heart health! Please plan to wear red to church and come by the Philoptochos table for some information on heart health, healthy snacks and a sparkling red Phillini!
Membership renewal
It’s time to renew our annual Philoptochos memberships. Our membership dues are the foundation of our budget and they are critical to the good works we are able to provide our community. Please come by the table on Sunday and renew or go online to denverphiloptochos.com and make sure you are on our 2026 membership roster. $25 of each membership is automatically designated for the National and Metropolis Philoptochos endeavors. Our chapter keeps anything above $25 for our budget here. We welcome whatever you can afford. Thank you for your loyalty and support!
PHILOPTOCHOS GENERAL MEETING
Our General Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 15th immediately following coffee hour in the Annunciation Room at approximately 12:30. We’ll be reviewing our annual budget and authorizing expenditures for the year.

VALENTINE’S DAY BRUNCH & BINGO
Join us on Saturday, February 14th for our Annual Valentine’s Day Brunch & Bingo event at 11:00 AM in the Annunciation Room. We welcome all your contributions to our VINTAGE TREASURES booth, and ask that you put them aside as the year progresses for our marketplace in November. We welcome linens, crystal, china, silver, holiday decor, collectables, etc. Your great taste will live another lifetime and the needs of the community will be better served with the proceeds.
