AUGUST

Dear philoptochos Members,

As I write this on the 150th Birthday of the great State of Colorado, I’m struck by how very young we are, how fresh, beautiful and alluring we remain to the individuals that call us home.  We still attract the courageous, innovative, enduring individuals rich with character that eschew dense, robotic cities for the warmth of our communities.  We are laced together from the farms of the plains and the institutions of the front range to the resorts of the high country, and the welcoming warmth of the small towns all along the way.  Our rivers still teem with life.  We have currents to ride, ski runs to traverse, and miles of trails yet waiting to be discovered.  Our Greek Orthodox parishes thrive and grow throughout. We inspire breakthroughs in technology, medicine, the arts and the services that foster humanity.  We are blessed to live here and I am thankful for the privilege, even in the knowledge that perhaps my most adventurous years are behind me.  I still feel young in the tapestry of Colorado. I hope we all do, as we are all a part of the rhythm of her heart.

2026 also marks the 90th Anniversary of our Philoptochos Chapter 8010.  The vine of women that have grown and flourished from the roots planted by our mothers and grandmothers continues to grow and bloom.  Our interests and skills have spurred the offshoots of our service, each year encompassing more need and affecting more care.  I hope you will plan to join us as we celebrate this landmark in our history later this year.  We are each part of a rich tradition as we continue to participate and rejoice in what the future brings. Please save the date October 17th for this auspicious event.
